Feedback from the February Dinner

Feedback from the February Dinner

Here are some feedback highlights from the Dinner on February 26th.

What about this event inspired you to spend your Sunday evening here?

–            Wanting to meet like minded socially aware people

–            Having a chance to bring myself into the community to engage with ideas that will change our world

–            Last month was great; today too. I recently moved to Vancouver and am very lonely – these are the sort of people I wish to know.

–            Dinner with wonderful people, meaningful conversation and good food

–            The title

–            The connection among those who are here. There are lots of commonality and inspiring stories in our table

–            I really want to explore the connection between spirituality and social change

–            Last month I so enjoyed speaking with and eating with lovely strangers. It fed me. I sense a great potential

–            Meeting new people interested in Social Change

–            The people

–            The potential of this idea

–            I thought it would be wonderful to share thoughts of like-minded people

–            A desire to explore community & change

–            The video on the internet

–            The last event

–            Great people to connect to, yummy food, and a joyful, warm room

–            Community of social change that acknowledges our spiritual selves

–            Good spirited dialogue – coming with a pal – knowing Chris and her energy made it easy and not scary

–            My friend told me I had to be here, so I came!

–            The emphasis on Social & Spirited Change

–            I’m new in Vancouver and I want to meet more people I can relate with and expand my social circle

–            To be with others with this topic

What about the evening felt worthwhile to you?

–            Conversing with others was an excellent opportunity for me to gain perspective on where the people in my community are at, what their lives are like, etc

–            The food – my best dinner all month! And the conversation & the talk were invigorating

–            Connecting

–            The people. Diana’s poem. The singing.

–            The group discussion

–            Everything!!!

–            Definitely. Very positive energy here.

–            Just talking and learning more about other people

–            Everything – the music – the dialogue – the food – the energy.

–            Sharing food with others and hearing from Diana. The flowers were a wonderful touch

–            Hearing others stories & reflecting together on what binds us together. The food was epic! Meeting people engaged in justice work in this city (to which I am new!)

–            Sharing experiences with people at my table, at the event. Eating lovely food with lovely people.

–            Meeting and listening to lovely people

–            The singing and the conversation

–            Sharing with people some of the challenges we’ve overcome

–            Singing and talking to people at our table

–            The dinner . And the facilitated (and unfacilitated) discussion. Diana’s question was good.

–            Having conversations with strangers

–            Neelam was great!

–            Everything! I looked forward muchly to being here and am thrilled I am

What was missing? Or what would you change?

–            I think for what it was designed for it was great. I always like action, but negotiating the ideas first is important, I think

–            We are shy to ask to meet outside of this context – perhaps there would be an option on the website to share a photo (so others can recognize you) with your name & email so your table can look you up later? But I also intend to ask people directly if they’d like to meet

–            ½ hour longer

–            More music? Yes. More music.

–              Action: Implement our values

–            Continue giving an option to meat eaters and kids

–            Nothing!

–            Possibly a little more insight about Direction in which this process hopes to move

–            More conversation time? (but my table wasn’t very on task)

–            Maybe a way of mixing up people for tables?

–            More time for group discussion

–            Not a thing!

–            I think it might be unnecessary to have outside speakers. I think we have enough articulate and inspiring members of the group to fill that role. Perhaps you could allow two people to sign up in advance to give 10-minute talks. This way people could participate more over time.

–            Maybe a way of interacting with people at other tables (though my table was wonderful)

–            Almost could use more time. I know you want to honour Sunday night. Or perhaps create something together in 20 minutes – something to bring minds together, rather than talk individually. A tableau, a poster.

–            More dialogue time
