Fall Updates and More Next Steps

As you may know, Spirited Social Change began as an experiment. And this fall we’ll continue exploring with you, investigating and experiencing what it means to be progressive, engaged citizens in ways that feed our hearts, as well as our minds, our souls, our bellies, and our communities.

Our monthly dinners will continue in East Vancouver, with Trevor Malkinson cooking, and Vanessa Richards providing music leadership. The fall dates are:
Sunday, September 30th, 5:30-7:30 pm
Sunday, October 28th, 5:30-7:30 pm
Sunday, November 25th, 5:30-7:30 pm

Sometime this month we will be launching a new website. And over the fall we will be chatting with folks across the city to see about starting dinners in other communities. There are a couple other plans up our sleeves too, but I’ll say more another day.

All in all, the experiment is a question of how we can live together more compassionately and more meaningfully… Not only in our one-on-one relationships, but also in the social contracts, and the economic and political systems, within which our lives are structured, and toward which we are co-creators in a long evolutionary process.

Which is to say, how can we be doing it better, and enjoying it more along the way? Eating together, singing together, struggling and celebrating together. That seems like a good place to start.

See you on the 30th.

Love, Christine

PS – In a moment I am going to send you an email with some broad info about the dinners, so that you can forward it along to friends, family, neighbours and collegues that you think might be interested. It’s our low-budget form of outreach, and we’d love your help.

Sharing Stories, Changing Lives

The 2012 Western Women’s Conference is being held Sept 28-30 at Naramata Centre in the Okanagan. The theme is Sharing Stories  – Changing Lives. The leadership team includes Rabbi Laura Kaplan, Laurel Dykstra, and Lori Megley-Best. It’s a great opportunity to get away, and to be in community with other women of faith. Visit the Naramata Centre website for more info.
